An Immersive Exploration of the Two Main Cities of Northern Ireland Over Two Days

We are delighted to offer this two day private luxury tour of Northern Ireland to include Titanic Belfast, a tour of the City and its landmarks, with an additional day exploring the Walled City of Derry and the magnificent Causeway Coast and Glens.

DAY ONE

Titanic Belfast and  the Historic City

Step beyond the ordinary with a private tour of Titanic Belfast. Guided by a knowledgeable expert, you will explore the galleries and stories of Titanic and the city and people that built her. This experience is tailored to you, with unrivalled knowledge and professionalism, creating a personal and memorable event.

Lunch | Cafe Parisien | Belfast City Centre

Parisien is the best place to enjoy the moment in a chic yet comfortable ambience in the heart of Belfast. A cosmopolitan destination for lunch with the picture perfect backdrop of Belfast City Hall.

Belfast City Hall and Grounds

We will make our way across the street to the historic Belfast City Hall. The centrepiece of Belfast’s historic Victorian centre, City Hall is the main civic building for Belfast City Council. Situated in Donegal Square, this magnificent classical masterpiece was completed in 1906.

You will do a full guided tour of the beautiful Baroque Revival interior, including the Robing Room and the Council Chamber. This will be followed by a tour of the grounds which includes the original memorial to those lost in the Titanic Disaster.

Queen’s University Quarter

Queen’s University Belfast gives its name to the City’s University Quarter in the south of the city. Officially opened by Queen Victoria in 1845 it is one of the oldest universities in the UK and Ireland. The striking main building was designed by notable Irish architect Sir Charles Lanyon and is one of the most significant architectural landmarks in Belfast (Lanyon also designed many other buildings in the city including The Harbour Commissioners and The Custom House

You can enjoy remarkable views of Lanyon’s masterpiece with a walk through the main building into the Quad, where bi-annual graduation ceremonies take place. 

A gentle stroll through the main campus will take us into the beautiful Belfast Botanic Gardens. An important part of Belfast’s Victorian heritage, it remains a key gathering point for residents, students and visitors. Established in 1828 by the Belfast Botanic and Horticultural Society, the gardens feature Charles Lanyon’s Palm House, completed in 1840 and topped out with its dome in 1852.

DAY TWO

Historic Walled City and Causeway Coastal Route

You will be met at your hotel at 9:00am by your guide for the 75 minute drive to Northern Ireland’s second city, Derry/Londonderry. Known now as the Walled City of Derry, or Legenderry, in visitor guides, this historic and unique city has sat on the banks of the majestic River Foyle since 1613, It remains the only complete walled city on the island of Ireland.

You will be met by your private expert guide from McCrossan’s City Walking Tours who will tailor-make your visit to match your interests. This will include a complete tour of the City Walls and the famous Peace Bridge which provides pedestrian access between the city and the Waterside.

Just a short walk from the Peace Bridge is Browns Bonds Hill, where locals eat and where visitors discover one of the city’s most memorable dining experiences. The restaurant is Michelin Recommended and a member of Ireland’s Blue Book

It is the most rewarded restaurant in Derry, known for its relaxed, stylish atmosphere, warm service and menus built around seasonal, local produce.

Causeway Coastal Route and Giant’s Causeway

Leaving the Walled City we will join the famous Causeway Coastal Route taking in Binevenagh Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the cliff top views over the Foyle Estuary. Here you can also enjoy the story of Ireland’s Celtic God of the Sea, Manannan Mac Lir!

We continue along the Bishops Road to Downhill Beach and the remarkable Mussenden Temple, sitting atop steep cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

Mussenden Temple sits on the cliff’s edge, precariously perched above Downhill Strand and boasting panoramic views towards the mountains of Donegal and even, on a clear day, the Scottish coast.

Modelled on the Temple of Vespa in Rome, it was built in 1785 by the colourful Frederick Hervey, Earl of Bristol and Bishop of Derry. He wanted a refuge on his cliffside estate of Downhill – a place where he could be alone with his books, his thoughts and the sound of the ocean.


Coastal Drive and Giant’s Causeway World Heritage Site

We continue eastwards along the Causeway Coastal Route with stops at Magheracross Viewpoint, Duncluce Castle and Bushmills Distillery (photo stops only). We will then arrive at the world famous Giant’s Causeway where you will be taken directly to the rock formations after closing time, when the crowds have gone.

We will return to Belfast city via the A2 Causeway Coastal Route or via the main M2 highway (depending on the client), arriving back at your accommodation between 7:30 and 8:00pm.
